The competition for 5-star cornerback intensifies as the early signing period approaches in just two weeks. While LSU, led by Brian Kelly, remains in a strong position after his commitment in July, other schools like Miami and Georgia are making a push to flip him. Miami is still actively pursuing Pickett, with insider Izubee Charles reporting that head coach Mario Cristobal remains fully committed to the recruitment. However, it seems that no more visits are planned for now, with a family camping trip scheduled instead.
Pickett, who impressed last season with both defensive and offensive skills, recorded 31 tackles, an interception, and 52 receptions for 1,033 yards and 15 touchdowns. One potential advantage for Miami is that Pickett has a cousin on the team, which could be a factor in their favor. On3’s Steve Wiltfong also noted Cristobal’s ongoing communication with Pickett, emphasizing that the push will continue as the early signing period nears. While the battle remains tough, Miami is not backing down in its pursuit.
LSU and Georgia continue to pursue Him
Last week, DJ Pickett had been expected to attend the Florida vs. LSU game, but instead, he showed up at the Georgia vs. Tennessee matchup, suggesting he may be leaning toward Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs. With LSU suffering their third consecutive loss to the Gators, while Georgia secured a dominant 31-17 victory over Tennessee, it’s understandable why fans might wonder if Georgia’s recent success gives them an edge in the recruitment battle.
LSU, however, hasn’t given up. Pickett visited LSU during their 42-13 loss to Alabama, and despite the outcome, his father, Damien Pickett, shared that they had a great experience. However, Damien also confirmed that DJ won’t be taking any more visits, so it’s unlikely that any new developments will emerge in the next two weeks. It seems we’ll have to wait until the early signing period on December 4 to see where Pickett ultimately commits.
