The Alabama Crimson Tide have had a busy week, preparing for their ReliaQuest Bowl matchup against Michigan while also hosting transfer portal prospects. Among those visiting is former Virginia Tech cornerback Mansoor Delane, according to 247Sports’ Brian Dohn. Delane, the No. 2 ranked defensive back transfer per 247Sports, entered the portal on Wednesday and plans to visit LSU and Oregon before deciding where to play in the 2025 season.
A three-star recruit in Virginia Tech’s 2022 class, Delane quickly made his mark as a true freshman, recording 38 tackles, eight passes defended, two forced fumbles, and an interception in just eight games. His sophomore year saw him start all 13 games, tallying 53 tackles and another interception. As a junior this season, the Baltimore native elevated his performance further, earning Third-Team All-ACC honors with 54 tackles, seven passes defended, and a career-high four interceptions.
If Alabama secures Delane, they’ll gain a seasoned, highly skilled cornerback who could provide immediate impact. He could serve as a safety net in case Domani Jackson declares for the NFL Draft after the bowl game. The Crimson Tide’s 2025 secondary will feature promising young talent, including SEC All-Freshman Teamer Zabian Brown and five-star signee Dijon Lee. Adding an experienced player like Delane would bolster the group and provide valuable leadership for Kalen DeBoer’s squad.
