Zakaria El Ouahdi Poised for Summer Move from Genk

Reports from Africa Foot indicate that Moroccan international Zakaria El Ouahdi is set to leave Genk this summer as he looks for a fresh challenge in one of Europe’s top leagues.

Crystal Palace and Everton Among Interested Clubs
The 24-year-old right-back has attracted attention from several ambitious clubs. While German side VfB Stuttgart and Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven are monitoring his situation, Premier League clubs Crystal Palace and Everton have reportedly expressed “real interest” in signing him.

Genk have reportedly placed a €15 million (£12.5 million) price tag on the defender, who has already informed the club that he wants to move on at the end of the season. Although he received a lucrative offer from Russia, El Ouahdi is said to be prioritizing a “coherent sporting project” over financial incentives, with the Premier League seen as an ideal environment for his growth.

El Ouahdi has made a name for himself in Belgium, emerging as one of the most dynamic full-backs in the Jupiler Pro League. Known for his tactical awareness and ability to quickly transition from defense to attack, he has been a key player for Genk since joining from RWDM in 2023.

This season has been especially productive, with the Moroccan registering several goals and assists from his defensive position.

El Ouahdi’s performances have been vital to Genk’s success in domestic and European competitions. On the international stage, he shone for Morocco’s U23 team, helping them win a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Although he narrowly missed out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations squad, his main goal remains securing a spot in Morocco’s senior team ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
