The New York Yankees could undergo significant changes in 2025 compared to the team that reached the World Series this year. They’ve already made moves by adding players like superstars while parting ways with Jose Trevino and Gleyber Torres.
Juan Soto also left via free agency, and there may be more departures. Zachary Rotman of FanSided predicted that Marcus Stroman could be traded this winter, following Torres’ exit. Despite the Yankees reportedly shopping Stroman, no deal has materialized yet. With Max Fried now part of the rotation, the Yankees have seven starting pitchers, and after trading Nestor Cortes, the number is down to six. However, they don’t need a six-man rotation, and with the value of strong pitching, a team in need of a starter could trade for Stroman, who has a solid history. The Yankees could trade him to a contender, possibly similar to the Nestor Cortes deal that brought Williams to New York. The Detroit Tigers could be a potential landing spot for Stroman, with the Yankees possibly adding a prospect in exchange for a hitter like Jace Jung or Spencer Torkelson.
