The Boston Red Sox could emerge as a contender to trade for key man. from the Toronto Blue Jays. Guerrero is set to become a free agent after the season, and with Toronto struggling to secure him through a long-term deal, they might opt to trade him for a significant return. On Abriendo Sports, Guerrero revealed that he and the Blue Jays remain far apart in contract negotiations, noting that he turned down a $340 million offer earlier this offseason. He also mentioned that Juan Soto’s contract has influenced his perspective on negotiations.
According to Ballcap Sports analyst Jim Riley, a proposed trade package sending Guerrero to Boston includes the following:

Blue Jays receive:
- DH/LF Masataka Yoshida
- SS Kristian Campbell (MLB’s No. 10 prospect)
- LHP Brennan Bernardino
- 2B Vaughn Grissom
The Blue Jays might consider trading Guerrero now if they believe he won’t re-sign with them. From Boston’s perspective, they would be giving up Yoshida, a productive player, and one of their top prospects in Campbell, who could potentially replace Bo Bichette in Toronto’s infield. Campbell, ranked as MLB Pipeline’s No. 10 prospect, hit .330 across three minor league levels last season, reaching Triple-A. His versatility allows him to play shortstop, second base, and the outfield, making him a valuable asset for the Blue Jays’ future.
For the Red Sox, acquiring Guerrero—a four-time All-Star, Gold Glove winner, and two-time Silver Slugger—would provide a boost to their lineup. While Guerrero primarily plays first base, Boston could utilize him as a designated hitter, or shift their infield by moving Rafael Devers to first base and slotting Guerrero at third. Alternatively, if Triston Casas is traded, Guerrero could take over at first base.
