During Coach Mike Elko’s first season, Texas A&M’s 2024 wide receiver group struggled, largely due to a lack of impactful offseason additions and adjustments to offensive coordinator Collin Klein’s new system. However, there’s optimism for improvement moving forward.
This offseason, Elko and his staff have been proactive, prioritizing depth across nearly every position, particularly at wide receiver. Their efforts have resulted in three key additions: KC Concepcion (NC State), Micah Hudson (Texas Tech), and Mario Craver (Mississippi State) in just the past month.
Despite this progress, the Aggies faced a setback when junior wide receiver Noah Thomas entered the transfer portal and ultimately joined Georgia for the 2025 season. In response, Texas A&M secured former Houston wide receiver Jonah Wilson, who will join the team this spring.
Wilson, who tallied 11 receptions for 118 yards and one touchdown over two seasons with the Cougars, brings untapped potential. A former four-star recruit, Wilson is known for his sharp route running and game-changing speed, despite limited playing time.
A standout at Dekaney High School in Houston, Wilson was initially close to committing to the Texas Longhorns before signing with Houston.
While Wilson may currently be seen as a depth piece, his talent and upside provide valuable reinforcement at a critical position and help mitigate the loss of Noah Thomas.
