Two former Purdue starting cornerbacks, Kyndrich Breedlove and Nyland Green, are transferring to Arizona State to join the Sun Devils for next season after spending a year in West Lafayette.
According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, both players announced their commitment on Monday. Arizona State, led by head coach Kenny Dillingham, had an impressive 11-3 season, winning the Big 12 championship and reaching the College Football Playoff.
Breedlove joined Purdue for the 2024 season after transferring from Colorado. He began his college career at Ole Miss, where he played for two seasons. In his single year with the Boilermakers, Breedlove tallied 40 tackles, defended four passes, and recorded three interceptions. Initially, he entered the transfer portal after Purdue parted ways with head coach Ryan Walters but later withdrew his name, indicating he might return for the 2025 season. However, Breedlove has ultimately decided to head to Arizona State, where he will have one year of eligibility remaining.
Green, who transferred to Purdue after three seasons at Georgia, also contributed significantly during his time in West Lafayette. He posted 23 tackles, defended five passes, and forced a fumble. Like Breedlove, Green will have one year of eligibility left as he transitions to Arizona State.
Purdue finished the 2024 season with a disappointing 1-11 record, which led to the firing of head coach Ryan Walters after just two seasons. The Boilermakers have since hired Barry Odom, formerly the head coach at Missouri and UNLV, to take over the program.
