Nebraska has extended an intriguing offer to five-star recruit Zion Elee, a Maryland commit who may be reconsidering his decision. Although Elee had initially planned to finalize his commitment, the attention he received following his pledge after the 2025 National Signing Day has prompted more teams to reach out. The defensive lineman is now beginning to explore his options.
Terry Bradden, the Huskers’ defensive line coach, who is currently occupied with his previous duties with the Kansas City Chiefs in their Super Bowl push, reached out to Elee with an offer on Thursday. Elee is currently participating in the Polynesian Bowl after having taken part in the Under Armour All-American Game earlier this month.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound lineman holds over 30 offers and plans to visit Auburn and Georgia before the recruiting dead period begins in early February.
According to 247Sports’ scouting report by Hudson Standish, Elee is one of the most complete edge prospects seen at this stage of the evaluation process. With his impressive athletic profile—standing at nearly 6-foot-4 and weighing 220 pounds, coupled with a combine-like testing performance—he is often compared to top-tier edge rushers. Elee possesses a natural understanding of the position, which allowed him to rack up 13 sacks in just nine games, even though his pass-rushing repertoire is still developing. His strengths include a quick first step, closing speed, and lateral explosiveness. He excels at changing direction quickly to chase down ball carriers and wrap up evasive quarterbacks. While he currently leans on speed rushing and occasional power moves, he has the frame to bulk up and become a more complete player, potentially excelling as a 3-4 outside linebacker at the next level. His competition will increase after transferring from the smaller Joppatowne program to the renowned St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, but he’s considered a potential future standout at the NFL Combine.
