After being hit by a pitch near his right knee in the sixth inning on Wednesday, Jurickson Profar convinced the staff to let him stay in the game but was removed after hobbling into second base on Xander Bogaerts’ single.
X-rays after the game came back negative, and Profar has managed to secure his spot in Thursday’s lineup.
He will bat second and play left field as the Padres aim for a three-game sweep at PNC Park. First pitch is at 9:35 a.m.
“I’m good,” Profar told the Union-Tribune’s Kevin Acee, walking with barely a limp as he left the clubhouse late Wednesday night.
Profar isn’t the only return to the lineup—shortstop Ha-Seong Kim is back as well after missing two starts due to right triceps soreness.
