Quarterback Kai Horton, who served as a backup for Tulane over the past four seasons, has decided to transfer to Washington, as reported by On3sports on Tuesday. Horton, entering his redshirt senior year, appeared in 13 games during his time at Tulane. He completed 64 of 123 passes for 853 yards, recording six touchdowns and five interceptions. Horton was a three-star recruit and the 27th-ranked pro-style quarterback in the nation according to 247Sports.com. He led Carthage (Texas) High School to consecutive 4A state titles during his junior and senior years.
At Washington, Demond Williams Jr. is expected to be the starting quarterback next season. Williams, a true freshman, started the final two games of the season, including a standout performance in the Sun Bowl loss to Louisville, where he threw for 374 yards and four touchdowns while also rushing for 48 yards and a touchdown. For the season, he completed 82 of 105 passes for 944 yards, eight touchdowns, and one interception, in addition to rushing for 282 yards and two touchdowns.
Behind Williams, Washington’s quarterback depth is limited. Shea Kuykendall, a fourth-year junior, has not played for UW after transferring from Northern Colorado, where he passed for 454 yards and two touchdowns in four games. The roster also includes two true freshmen, Dash Beierly and Treston “Kini” McMillan, who enrolled at Washington this month.
