With the WNBA season now less than four months away, excitement is building for Caitlin Clark’s return to the court as the Indiana Fever aim to build on last season’s progress. During her rookie year, Clark earned Rookie of the Year honors, and the Fever reached the postseason for the first time since 2016, though they fell in the first round. Now, with new head coach Stephanie White at the helm and growing team chemistry led by Clark, Aliyah Boston, and Kelsey Mitchell, expectations are sky-high.
Wednesday also marked Clark’s 23rd birthday, and she received a heartfelt shoutout from NBA star and close friend Tyrese Halliburton of the Indiana Pacers. Speaking at a press conference in Paris ahead of the NBA Global Games, where the Pacers will face Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday at 2 p.m. EST, Halliburton praised Clark’s talent and character.
“I’ve said it many times—Caitlin is amazing. Getting to spend time around her and know her personally, she’s just an incredible person and an incredible player. She deals with a lot, and the way she handles it is remarkable. In terms of basketball, she’s one of the top five most famous players right now, even including our league. At the end of the day, she’s just a girl from Iowa who’s really good at basketball. She’s become a great friend of mine.”
He concluded simply: “Caitlin is amazing […] She’s a superstar.”
Caitlin Clark and Tyrese Haliburton are currently the biggest basketball stars in Indiana, each leaving a significant mark on their respective leagues.
Haliburton led the Pacers to the Eastern Conference Finals last season and has them poised for another deep playoff run this year.
