The USC Trojans have had a busy and largely successful offseason. While much has been discussed about their high-profile coaching and front office hires, how well have they fared in the transfer portal?
So far, USC has brought in 10 transfers while losing 22 players. That number is expected to rise once the spring transfer window opens, especially with the new staff in place.
Although the total number of additions may seem low, quality often outweighs quantity. Of the 10 incoming transfers, three are rated as 4-star prospects, with two of them being defensive linemen—an area that needed the most improvement this offseason.
According to On3, USC’s new defensive line additions, Keeshawn Silver and Jamaal Jarrett, rank among the top 10 defensive line transfers. Silver, a 6’4”, 322-pound defensive tackle from Kentucky, is ranked second, while Jarrett, a 6’5”, 380-pound DT from Georgia, comes in at ninth.
With these two additions, along with returning talent and incoming 2025 recruits, USC’s defensive line is shaping up to be the most improved unit in the Big Ten. Their potential depth chart includes:
- Anthony Lucas
- Kam Fountain
- Keeshawn Silver
- Jamaal Jarrett
- Devan Thompkins
- Jahkeem Stewart
- Jide Abasiri
- Braylon Shelby
On paper, this is a strong and versatile group. Just as Devan Thompkins emerged last year, players like Carlon Jones or Lorenzo Cowan could also earn unexpected playing time.
With Lincoln Riley, Eric Henderson, and the rest of the staff still looking to add pieces in the spring transfer window, USC’s defensive line is well on its way to being a major strength in 2025.
