The New York Jets fell well short of expectations in 2024, setting the stage for a pivotal offseason. With Aaron Glenn taking over as head coach, major changes are on the horizon, including potential trades to keep the franchise on the right track. One of the most significant moves could involve dealing Davante Adams.
The Jets Will Trade Davante Adams
When New York acquired Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders, the goal was to rekindle his chemistry with Aaron Rodgers, reminiscent of their success in Green Bay. However, the Jets’ offense continued to struggle, and it took time for Adams and Rodgers to find their rhythm. Despite this, Adams still posted solid numbers, finishing the season with 1,063 yards and eight touchdowns. At 32, he remains a productive receiver thanks to his speed and elite route running.
Given his value, the Jets could still secure a strong return in draft capital by moving Adams, allowing them to fully embrace a rebuild. Additionally, Adams has expressed openness to a trade, preferring to join a team with an established franchise quarterback and a legitimate shot at contention.
The Packers Reunite with Davante Adams
A trade back to Green Bay could make perfect sense for both Adams and the Packers. While he is 32, that experience would be an asset for a young Green Bay team led by Jordan Love. With a receiving corps featuring Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Dontayvion Wicks, Adams could provide much-needed veteran leadership and help accelerate their development.
For Adams, returning to Green Bay would offer the opportunity to finish his career where it began, making for a fitting conclusion to his NFL journey.
