All eyes are on Juan Soto as the baseball world awaits his decision on the next chapter of his MLB career. In seven seasons, Soto has already amassed an impressive resume: four All-Star appearances, five Silver Slugger Awards, a batting title, a Home Run Derby championship, and a pivotal role in the Nationals’ 2019 World Series win.
Soto was instrumental in the Yankees’ return to the Fall Classic in 2024, their first since 2009. A finalist for the American League MVP Award, he posted a stellar .288/.419/.569 slash line with 41 home runs, 31 doubles, 109 RBIs, and 128 runs scored over 713 plate appearances. Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller believes they can. He predicts Soto will re-sign with the Yankees on a 13-year, $569 million contract. “Speculation about Soto’s deal has gotten outlandish, with some suggesting he could command over $700 million without the deferrals that made Shohei Ohtani’s Dodgers deal feasible,” Miller said. “However, most reliable insiders estimate an annual value of $41-$44 million for a deal lasting more than 10 but fewer than 15 years. A 13-year pact at $43.77 million annually fits that range.”
