The Boston Bruins made another move ahead of Friday’s NHL trade deadline.
On Thursday, Bruins general manager Don Sweeney announced that the team acquired forwards Jakub Lauko and Marat Khusnutdinov, along with a 2026 sixth-round pick (which originally belonged to them), from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for forward Justin Brazeau.
Lauko, 24, was originally drafted by Boston in the third round of the 2018 NHL Draft and played 83 games with the team before being dealt to Minnesota at last season’s deadline. He was a fan favorite, known not only for his play but also for sharing memes about his unique nickname on social media.
Khusnutdinov, 22, was selected by Minnesota in the second round of the 2020 NHL Draft and has played 73 total games, tallying 11 points.
Brazeau, 27, is the key piece in the deal, having emerged as a standout in Boston’s bottom six with 10 goals and 10 assists (20 points). The Bruins initially brought him in last season from relative obscurity, and he worked his way into a regular role before being moved.
Boston is expected to stay active leading up to the 3 p.m. ET trade deadline on Friday.
