Verstappen has only claimed victory at the Australian Grand Prix once in his career (2023) and doesn’t seem confident about adding to that record this time. Red Bull’s performance in Bahrain fell short of expectations.
Meanwhile, McLaren’s competitors may be concerned about Norris’ impressive long-run pace. The team has made aggressive modifications to their car after edging out Ferrari for the championship by 14 points.
Ferrari’s testing results were mixed. Karun Chandhok found Lewis Hamilton’s data promising, indicating that the SF-25 allowed him to push hard. However, the car’s handling appeared to deteriorate as temperatures climbed on the final day.
Mercedes, on the other hand, believe they are currently the third-fastest team, which would mark an improvement from last season.
Max Verstappen views McLaren as the sole contenders for the 2025 F1 title at this stage. Speaking at a Viaplay event, he cautioned fans against expecting a win at Albert Park, acknowledging that Red Bull underperformed in pre-season testing.
In frustration, Verstappen damaged a set of tyres but remained composed outside the car. With two weeks between testing and the Australian Grand Prix, teams have time to analyze their data and make necessary adjustments.
