With the 2025 Major League Baseball season set to begin in just about two weeks, anticipation is building across the league. For the St. Louis Cardinals, there is plenty to look forward to, even though the team has faced a fair amount of skepticism from critics and fans alike. Despite the somewhat negative perception surrounding the club, the Cardinals still possess the potential to put together a strong campaign.
While St. Louis was not particularly aggressive during the offseason in terms of roster moves, the team remains loaded with talent. The front office may not have made headline-grabbing acquisitions, but the core of the roster is still capable of competing at a high level. If things go right, the Cardinals have a legitimate shot at finishing with a winning record and positioning themselves in the mix for a postseason berth.
Looking back at the 2024 season, St. Louis finished in a tie for second place in the National League Central. Given the landscape of the division, they should once again be able to compete for a top spot in 2025.
