Virginia Tech football currently has one commitment for the Class of 2026: wide receiver Carnell Warren from South Carolina, who committed in February at the Under Armour Next All-American Game. They previously had another commitment from quarterback Peyton Falzone of Nazareth, Pa., last June, but he de-committed last fall and reopened his recruitment.
Recently, Virginia Tech made the Top 8 for safety D’Various Surratt, and now they have also made the Top 8 for linebacker Caleb Gordon. Gordon, a 6-foot, 215-pound three-star from North Carolina, included Virginia Tech in his list alongside three other ACC schools: Georgia Tech, Virginia, and Clemson. North Carolina, under former coach Mack Brown, offered Gordon last fall before hiring Bill Belichick. Gordon has visits scheduled for May 30 at Clemson, June 19 at Virginia, and June 13 at Liberty. Virginia Tech offered him last fall.
Warren recently shared Gordon’s tweet on social media, commenting, “I see something I like.”
New defensive coordinator Sam Siefkes, with his background coaching linebackers with the Arizona Cardinals, is expected to play a role in Gordon’s recruitment, along with Shawn Quinn. It’s likely that Siefkes will collaborate with Brent Pry, and possibly Warren, in the process.
Although there’s still a long way to go in Gordon’s recruitment, Virginia Tech being in the mix is promising. Linebacker is a key position for the future, and securing Gordon would be a strong addition.
