The college basketball transfer portal has allowed some of the nation’s top programs to attract elite players capable of making an immediate difference.
One of the most notable transfers following the season was former South Carolina standout MiLaysia Fulwiley.
After two years under coach Dawn Staley with the Gamecocks, Fulwiley made the high-profile switch to SEC rival LSU.
Hailey Van Lith, a current Chicago Sky player and former LSU guard, recently spoke about Fulwiley’s decision.
Van Lith offered strong praise for the new LSU addition and acknowledged the program’s vibrant environment.
“I think MiLaysia is a really confident player,” Van Lith told Julia Poe. “She’ll do well. Just be yourself and have fun. The fans here are amazing, and the atmosphere is special, so take in every game and enjoy everything LSU has to offer.”
Last season with the South Carolina Gamecocks, MiLaysia Fulwiley put up averages of 11.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game—nearly identical to her freshman year, when she tallied 11.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per contest.
Hailey Van Lith, who spent the 2023–24 season with LSU, averaged 11.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game during her time with the Tigers.
Following her stint at LSU, Van Lith played the 2024–25 season with the TCU Horned Frogs. Prior to that, she spent her first three college seasons as a standout for the Louisville Cardinals.
