BREAKING COMMITTMENT: five-star quarterback Dia Bell is the commit to Texas for Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns deal worth $35-$40 million payroll

Five-star quarterback Dia Bell from American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is the centerpiece of Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian’s 2026 recruiting class.

Despite his commitment to the Longhorns, powerhouse Ohio State is reportedly making a strong push to flip him. According to 247Sports analyst Tom Loy, the Buckeyes are persistently trying to sway Bell away from Austin.

However, Texas appears to be in a strong position. Loy noted that flipping Bell “will take a lot,” and for now, the elite prospect has shown no signs of wavering. He hasn’t scheduled any additional official visits and remains firmly committed to Texas.

“As of now, I don’t plan to visit any school other than the University of Texas,” Bell said in a March interview with On3.

Bell is rated a five-star recruit by both On3 and 247Sports’ composite rankings. He is the No. 4 overall player in the country, the No. 2 quarterback nationally, and the top prospect in Florida. During his last season, he passed for 2,597 yards with 29 touchdowns and six interceptions, while rushing for 561 yards and five touchdowns before a season-ending injury. His performance earned him the Gatorade Player of the Year honor in Florida.

A highly sought-after recruit, Bell has received interest from top programs including Alabama, LSU, Miami, Penn State, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina, Wisconsin, and Ohio State.

Despite the attention, Bell remains solid in his commitment to Texas. “I still listen to what other coaches have to say because things can change quickly in college football,” he told 247Sports. “But my heart is in Texas—as long as Coach Sarkisian and Coach Milwee are there, that’s where I’ll be.”
