Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry stayed active in the spring transfer portal over the weekend, securing a commitment from Jackson State wide receiver Isaiah Spencer.
Spencer, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound receiver from Madison, Mississippi, tallied 35 receptions for 660 yards and four touchdowns last season, averaging an impressive 18.8 yards per catch. Over his two seasons at Jackson State, he played in 25 games with 13 starts, finishing with 59 catches for 867 yards and five touchdowns. He has two years of eligibility left.
The Hokies are reloading at wide receiver after losing key contributors Jaylin Lane, DaāQuan Felton, Stephen Gosnell, and Ali Jennings to graduation. While Lane was drafted by the Washington Commanders, the others are pursuing NFL opportunities as undrafted free agents or minicamp invitees.
Earlier in the offseason, Virginia Tech added Tennesseeās Cameron Seldon and Wake Forestās Donavon Greene through the winter transfer portal. Both are expected to play significant roles this season alongside returner Ayden Greene and newcomer Isaiah Spencer. Spencer offers versatility as a slot receiver and a deep threat, helping fill the void left by Lane and Felton.
He becomes the seventh spring portal addition for the Hokies, who brought in 19 players during the winter transfer window.
