BREAKING: Michigan State Spartans football is now sold out to Former Super Bowl Winning Coach

Jon Gruden has had a long-standing connection with Michigan State University. The former head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who led the Bucs to a Super Bowl victory in 2002, has crossed paths with numerous former Spartans throughout his football career.

This connection inspired a recent video Gruden shared on social media. As part of his regular routine, Gruden, who works with Barstool Sports, often posts videos of himself unboxing gifts from various schools. This time, he received a package from Michigan State’s equipment staff.

Gruden hinted that the package was a surprise from his former player, Kirk Cousins, the legendary Spartan quarterback. Inside the box were several Michigan State-themed items, including a Spartan helmet and a Cousins jersey. One of the standout gifts was a custom MSU basketball jersey with Gruden’s last name on it.

While unboxing, Gruden expressed his deep admiration for Michigan State, sharing his extensive knowledge of the school’s football legacy.

“I love freakin’ Michigan State,” Gruden said. “Duffy Daugherty coached there when Bubba Smith played, and they had so many great players. Then, George Perles, Nick Saban, Denny Stolz, and Mark Dantonio all came in, making the Spartans a powerhouse, winning 10 games a year with players like Kirk Cousins, Le’Veon Bell, Andre Rison, and Plaxico Burress. His passion for Michigan State wasn’t limited to football. Gruden also spoke about the school’s basketball program, recalling his experiences as a ball boy for the Indiana Hoosiers and how Magic Johnson used to annoy him. He also reminisced about Michigan State’s successful basketball history, praising coach Jud Heathcote and later Tom Izzo. Gruden also shared his admiration for Draymond Green, calling him his favorite NBA player.

Gruden clearly appreciated the thoughtful gift from Michigan State, even giving a shoutout to East Lansing.

“Have you ever been to East Lansing?” Gruden asked. “It’s a great college town. It’s a historic place, man.”
