One of the top wide receiver prospects in the 2027 class is set to make a commitment to Nebraska.
Tri five-star wideout Antayvious Ellis confirmed to HuskerMax that he would be heading to Lincoln for a commitment. Interest from the Crowley, Texas, standout grew after the commitment of quarterback Trae Taylor last week.
The Husker target discussed his upcoming commitment, scheduled for June 4-5.
“Trae Taylor committing to Nebraska definitely grabbed my attention,” Ellis said. “When a high-level guy like him chooses a program, it says a lot about what that school is building. It shows Nebraska is serious about stacking talent and doing something big.
“As a competitor, I want to be around the best. If top guys like Trae are choosing Nebraska, it makes me want to dig even deeper into what they’re building there. It also gives the impression that the coaching staff is connecting with players in a real way and getting them to buy into the vision — something I pay close attention to during my recruitment.”
Ellis then explained what he’s most looking forward to during his commitment to Lincoln.
“I’m really excited to soak in the vibe and feel the energy around the program,” Ellis said. “Watching practice, meeting the players, and observing how the coaches interact with everyone — that’s what matters most to me. I want to feel that sense of connection, that family feeling, and see how I’d fit in both on and off the field.
“I also want to check out the facilities, the academic support, and how they help players get ready for life beyond football. But really, just being there and picturing myself in that environment — that’s what I’m most excited about.”
The Husker target also shared which coaches he’s eager to connect with during his commitment, and what he hopes to see from them.
“I’m definitely excited to connect with Coach Shorts, Coach Williams, and Coach Rhule,” Ellis said. “I’ve had some solid conversations with those guys, and they’ve kept it real with me from day one. They bring the energy and passion that players feed off, and I can tell they genuinely care about their players — not just as athletes, but as people. I want to see how they interact with their team and how they push guys to be the best. I respect that, and I’m looking forward to strengthening that bond in person.”
