ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky made a bold statement about Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa following Miami’s recent victory over the New England Patriots—Tagovailoa’s seventh win in as many games against the division rival.
The former Alabama quarterback now boasts a flawless 7-0 record against the Patriots and is arguably one of the most vital players to his team in the NFL today. Orlovsky certainly shares that sentiment.
“There aren’t five quarterbacks more important to their football team in this league than Tua,” Orlovsky said. “We’re seeing that. And if anyone wants to argue about it, don’t even try. They’re back in the playoff race now, sitting as the eighth seed.”
Orlovsky also highlighted the impressive numbers Tagovailoa and head coach Mike McDaniel have achieved together: a 23-14 overall record, an average of 27 points per game, and 380 yards of offense per contest.
Despite the praise, Tagovailoa remains humble about his impact. After Miami’s 34-15 win, he emphasized the team’s effort. “It’s great. Anytime you can get a win against a divisional opponent, it’s a big deal. But it’s not my win—it’s a team win. I’ll leave it at that,” he said during the postgame press conference.
Tagovailoa turned in a stellar performance, completing 29 of 40 passes for 317 yards and four touchdowns. On the season, he’s completing 73.3% of his passes for 1,760 yards with 13 touchdowns and four interceptions.
As the Dolphins prepare for a Thursday Night Football matchup against the Green Bay Packers, Tagovailoa will aim to keep his strong momentum going.
