Breaking News: Avalanche stars named 2024-25 first team All-Stars, announced

Big News from Colorado:
Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche have both earned spots on the 2024–25 NHL First All-Star Team .

Cale Makar

At 26 years old, Makar lands his third career First-Team selection. After claiming his second Norris Trophy as the league’s best defenseman—earning a dominant 176 out of 191 first-place votes—he made history. He became the first Avalanche blueliner to post 30 goals and 60 assists in a season, finishing with 92 points—both franchise records for a defenseman (Reuters).

Nathan MacKinnon

The 29-year-old superstar earned back-to-back First-Team honors, registering 116 points (32 goals, 84 assists). He finished second in NHL scoring and tied for the league lead in assists. This marks his fifth postseason All-Star appearance and second straight First-Team nod (NHL.com).

Together, they’re only the third duo of Avalanche teammates to receive First-Team All-Star recognition in the same season—joining the legendary pairings of Bourque/Sakic (2000–01) and Roy/Sakic (2001–02).

  • Organizational Strength: Their honors speak to Colorado’s elite core and championship-caliber foundation.
