Illinois took a major step toward solidifying its 2026 recruiting class last week by landing a commitment from five-star tight end Will Vala.
Vala, a standout from Downers Grove (Ill.) North, saw his recruitment take off this spring. He ultimately chose the Illini over offers from Wisconsin, Indiana, Louisville, Kentucky, Purdue, and several Group of Five programs.
Illinois was the first Power Four school to extend an offer to Vala and successfully sealed the deal. According to the Composite rankings, he’s rated as the No. 1,020 overall prospect in the class and the No. 24 player in Illinois.
