A trade involving Kevin Durant before the 2025 NBA Draft is becoming more and more probable. However, the Memphis Grizzlies remain far from being one of his preferred destinations.
Currently, Durant’s top choices include the Miami Heat, Houston Rockets, and San Antonio Spurs. Still, with the Phoenix Suns focused on securing the best possible return for the 36-year-old star, there’s no guarantee he’ll end up with any of those teams.
As for Memphis, their interest appears minimal.
“I wouldn’t expect the Grizzlies to suddenly enter the Durant sweepstakes,” NBA insider Jake Fischer wrote on Substack. “As of Friday night, The Stein Line reported that Memphis was not actively pursuing Durant.”
Even if the Grizzlies were to explore a trade, the price likely wouldn’t exceed what they received from the Orlando Magic in the Desmond Bane deal.
“In conversations with several sources following the Bane trade,” ESPN’s Tim Bontemps reported, “the consensus is that any draft pick package heading to Phoenix in a Durant deal probably won’t be greater than what Memphis got for Bane — who has yet to be an All-Star.”
While that could make a trade more appealing for Memphis, their odds of landing Durant remain slim, especially if he’s not on board with the destination.
