Snell struggled in the first half, posting a 6.31 ERA after going through spring training without a team. However, by July, he rediscovered his Cy Young form, delivering a stellar 1.45 ERA across 12 starts in the second half. His strong finish earned him a new deal with the Dodgers.
Late on November 26, Snell announced the deal on Instagram, though he didn’t share specifics. MLB insider Mark Feinsand later revealed that the 31-year-old had agreed to a five-year, $182 million contract with Los Angeles.
The Boston Red Sox were frequently linked to Snell this offseason. As an experienced lefty with an impressive track record, he would have been a perfect fit for their rotation. However, the Dodgers moved quickly, as they often do, securing him before the Red Sox could act.

The Yankees and Orioles were also in the mix for Blake Snell, underscoring the fierce competition for elite left-handed starters within the division. With rivals actively seeking rotation upgrades, the Red Sox will need to move quickly to bolster their pitching staff before a competitor beats them to it.
