EDMONTON, AB – The Edmonton Oilers announced Friday that forward has signed an eight-year contract extension, carrying an average annual value of $3.85 million.
The 6-foot-3, 221-pound forward played in all 22 of Edmonton’s games during the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs, posting one goal and three assists while averaging 11:24 of ice time per game. His lone goal was the game-winner that sealed the first-round series against the Los Angeles Kings.
Frederic, 27, was acquired on March 4 from the New Jersey Devils in a deal that involved the Boston Bruins. During the playoffs, he ranked fourth among Oilers forwards in hits (85) and fifth in blocked shots (15).
Heading into his eighth NHL season in 2025–26, the St. Louis, Missouri native was originally selected 29th overall by Boston in the 2016 NHL Draft. He appeared in 337 regular-season games with the Bruins, tallying 55 goals, 54 assists, 307 penalty minutes, and a +18 rating.
