Allen, one of the league’s top quarterbacks, has been in great form recently and wasn’t listed on the injury report all week. With veteran Mitch Trubisky as their primary backup, the Bills already have solid depth at the position.
However, on Saturday, Buffalo decided to promote Mike White from the practice squad to the active roster. According to the team’s PR account on X (formerly Twitter), the roster updates for Sunday’s game include White and tight end Zach Davidson being elevated, linebacker Matt Milano returning from injured reserve, and defensive tackle DeWayne Carter being ruled out due to a wrist injury.
While Milano’s return is a significant boost, White’s promotion raised eyebrows, sparking speculation about Allen’s health. It’s likely White will serve as the emergency third-string quarterback for the game, providing extra insurance. With a roster spot available, the Bills ensured added protection at quarterback. Despite this move, Allen is fully expected to start and will be pivotal in this high-stakes matchup against the 49ers. Kickoff is set for 8:20 p.m. EST on Sunday, Dec. 1.
