The Cleveland Cavaliers have re-signed Australian forward to a two-way contract for the upcoming season.
Travers has participated in the last three Summer Leagues with the Cavs and spent most of last year in the G-League, appearing in 12 NBA games. While playing for the Charge, he averaged 15.7 points, 9.8 rebounds, 7.4 assists, and 4.1 turnovers per game.
At 6’8″, Travers shows promise with his versatility — rebounding, facilitating, and defending. These traits make him an intriguing developmental player. However, his struggles with shooting remain a hurdle. He hit just 26.7% of his three-point attempts in the G-League and lacks a dominant interior game, limiting his NBA impact.
Set to turn 24 in September, Travers still has room to grow. Improvements in scoring or defensive prowess could elevate his role. For now, Cleveland is willing to continue investing in his potential. He’s expected to feature in Summer League action and return to the Charge.
The Cavs have not yet filled their remaining two two-way contract slots. They have signed second-round pick Tyrese Proctor to a standard deal and opted not to bring back Emoni Bates on another two-way.
