The German forward was vying for possession with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma when Willian Pacho tried to block him from getting close to the keeper. As Donnarumma lunged to secure the loose ball, he landed awkwardly on Jamal Musiala’s ankle, causing the Bayern star to fall as his ankle stayed planted unnaturally.
Musiala immediately grabbed at his ankle, which appeared to twist painfully, prompting the live broadcast to quickly cut away. Donnarumma looked visibly shaken, while Harry Kane reacted with concern, placing his hands on his head.
Musiala held his face in his hands as medical staff attended to him, and he was eventually stretchered off the field. Bayern Munich later confirmed the injury on social media, posting: “Jamal Musiala has to be carried off the field injured. We’re with you, Jamal!”
Fans reacted with shock and sympathy online. One wrote, “These players need rest, not more matches after playing for 11 months straight. Hoping it’s not as bad as it looks.” Another said, “This is awful, wishing Musiala a fast recovery.”
More supporters expressed their concern: “Bayern and PSG players looked heartbroken after Musiala’s injury. Praying for a quick comeback,” while another added, “Just look at their faces… I’m gonna cry. He’s probably out for a year…”
