Charlotte FC striker and U.S. international star is nearing a move to English Championship club Derby County in a deal worth \$7 million, sources have confirmed to ESPN.
One source noted that the transfer has not yet been finalized. The Washington Post was the first to report the proposed fee.
Agyemang, 24, is currently with the U.S. men’s national team for the Gold Cup, where they face Costa Rica in the quarterfinals on Sunday. He has netted two goals in the tournament so far, including the decisive strike in a 2-1 group stage win over Haiti.
Since debuting for the USMNT earlier this year, Agyemang has scored five goals in nine appearances.
Hailing from East Hartford, Connecticut, he is in his third season with Charlotte FC, having played college soccer at Eastern Connecticut State and the University of Rhode Island. He has tallied 17 goals and four assists in 59 league matches for Charlotte.
Charlotte currently sits ninth in the Eastern Conference with 25 points from 19 games.
Meanwhile, Derby County aims to strengthen after finishing 19th in the Championship last season, narrowly avoiding relegation by a single point.
