Derby County has confirmed via their official website that two Nigerian players are among eight academy prospects who have signed their first professional contracts with the club.
Justin Oguntolu and Adisa Osayande, who both joined Derby on scholarship terms two years ago, have now signed professional deals to continue their progression at Pride Park.
Following standout performances at the U18 level, both Oguntolu and Osayande have earned promotions to Derby County’s development squad ahead of the new campaign.
Oguntolu, a striker who joined Derby’s academy at the U16 level, has secured his new contract after an impressive season where he tallied 14 goals and 6 assists in 33 matches across various competitions, including the U18 Premier League, Premier League 2, FA Youth Cup, and Premier League Cup.
Osayande, who has been with the club since U9 level, played a key role in defense for the U18s last season, recording two goals and one assist in 16 league appearances. He also featured in 10 matches for the U21 side in Premier League 2, showcasing his ability to transition between age groups effectively.
Under the guidance of head coach Danny Maye, Derby County U21s are set to compete once again in Premier League 2 and the Premier League Cup for the 2025/26 season.
