Shrewsbury Town have secured the signing of defender Sam Stubbs from Bradford City on a two-year deal.
The 26-year-old spent last season on loan at League Two side Cheltenham Town, where he was named both Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year.
A former Middlesbrough academy product, Stubbs joined Bradford from Exeter City in January 2023 and made 55 appearances for the Bantams.
“Sam attracted plenty of interest this summer after an outstanding individual campaign at Cheltenham,” said Shrewsbury’s director of football Micky Moore. “We believe we’ve brought in a quality defender entering his peak years. He’s a leader, dominant in the air, physically strong, and a solid all-round player.”
Stubbs becomes the third new addition for Shrewsbury this summer, as the club gears up for life in League Two following relegation. His free transfer will be completed on July 1.
He joins defender Tom Anderson from Doncaster and midfielder Sam Clucas from Lincoln City as part of the club’s summer rebuild.
