Austria international , 33, has signed a one-year deal to return to Derby County, where he previously played from 2015 to 2018, scoring nine goals in 88 appearances.
Defender Danny Batth, 34, who previously played for Wolverhampton Wanderers, Stoke City, Sunderland, and Norwich City, also joins the Rams. Batth spent ten years at Wolves and was part of their 2013–14 League One title-winning team. He had loan spells with Colchester United, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, and Middlesbrough before permanently joining Stoke in January 2019. In 2022, he helped Sunderland gain promotion to the Championship via the League One play-off final. Last season, he played for Norwich before moving to Blackburn.
Both Batth and Weimann reunite with Derby boss John Eustace, having played under him at Blackburn Rovers before his February move to Pride Park.
Veteran goalkeeper Richard O’Donnell, 35, has also joined Derby on a free transfer after departing Blackpool. With over 400 senior appearances across 14 clubs, he’ll serve as backup to Jacob Widell Zetterstrom and Josh Vickers.
These three signings bring Derby’s summer arrivals to four, following the earlier addition of striker Carlton Morris from Luton Town.
In addition, 23-year-old midfielder Liam Thompson has committed to a new two-year contract. He made 31 appearances last season and won the Sammy Crooks Young Player of the Season award for his role in keeping Derby in the division.
