Anderlecht Reloads: “Winger Reloaded” Sequel Confirmed

Carlos Forbs is the newest addition to Club Brugge, but things could have turned out differently — the Portuguese winger was also on Anderlecht’s radar this summer. The Brussels-based club made a serious push for his signature, only to see him commit to their rivals in West Flanders. It marks yet another loss for Anderlecht in the ongoing transfer battles between the two Belgian giants.

Club Brugge and Anderlecht have frequently locked horns in the market in recent years. Anderlecht had previously shown interest in Ardon Jashari but eventually backed off — Brugge later swooped in and secured his services. Similar head-to-heads have happened in the past, such as the case of Mbaye Diagne, who chose Brugge on loan after both clubs pursued him.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Anderlecht tried to lure Forbs once more during this transfer window. But the winger had his sights set on Brugge from the start. After leaving Ajax, Forbs signed a four-year deal at the Jan Breydel Stadium. “He always wanted to go to Club Brugge,” Tavolieri reported on X.

Following challenging stints at Ajax and Wolverhampton, Forbs is now aiming to reignite his career in Belgium and fulfill his promise.
