TEMPE, Ariz. — The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has unveiled its 2026 ITA Men’s Collegiate Tennis Hall of Fame Class, and it includes none other than USC legend Steve Johnson.
Johnson joins an elite group of inductees: fellow former collegiate stars John Isner and Kevin Anderson, legendary Georgia coach Manny Diaz, and long-time contributor John Frierson.
A titan during his collegiate run from 2008 to 2012, Johnson helped power USC to four straight NCAA team championships while capturing back-to-back NCAA singles titles in 2011 and 2012. A four-time All-American and two-time ITA National Player of the Year, he ended his career with a jaw-dropping 72-match winning streak, still an NCAA record.
Johnson’s success continued on the ATP Tour, where he amassed nearly 200 career wins, captured four singles titles, reached a career-high No. 21 world ranking, and earned over $8 million in prize money. He also secured a bronze medal in men’s doubles at the 2016 Rio Olympics, teaming up with Jack Sock.
With this honor, Johnson becomes the 22nd representative from USC in the Hall of Fame and the 19th Trojan player inducted—the first since Matt Anger in 2014.
“The 2026 Hall of Fame class showcases the profound impact college tennis can have,” said ITA CEO David Mullins. “From the court to the global stage, this group proves the pathway to excellence runs through collegiate tennis.”
The Hall of Fame, which began inducting members in 1983, now includes over 270 players, coaches, and contributors. Eligible players must be ten years removed from their final collegiate season and retired from professional play. Coaches are eligible post-retirement.
The 2026 induction ceremony will be held in May at the University of Georgia, prior to the NCAA Division I Championships. More details will be released later this year.
