United States striker Josh Sargent spent much of the summer linked with a move away from Carrow Road, with Premier League and European clubs circling for his signature. But no deal materialised before the window shut, and the 25-year-old has responded in style – firing five goals in six games to start the 2025/26 season and earning the Championship Player of the Month award for August.
Speaking on the honour, Sargent said:
“I’m really happy and proud to receive this award. There’s been a lot of noise in recent months, but my focus has always been on helping the team. I want to thank everyone at the club, especially my teammates, for their support. We’re excited for the season ahead and determined to build on recent performances.”
Norwich boss Liam Manning hailed the club’s decision to keep hold of their talisman:
“I don’t know how you replace him, to be honest. He’s not just a top player – he’s a leader, he knows the club, the area, the dressing room. He’s settled, loved by the fans, and it’s a huge boost to have him still here. Credit goes to the club for making sure we did everything possible to keep him.”
Sargent remains under contract until 2028, having already bagged 31 goals in the last two seasons.
