Bradford City Manager Graham Alexander Signs New Three-Year Contract
Bradford City manager Graham Alexander has committed his future to the club by signing a new three-year contract, keeping him at the University of Bradford Stadium until the summer of 2028. Assistant manager Chris Lucketti has also agreed to an extended deal on the same terms.
Alexander is preparing for Bradford’s first season back in League One after six years in the lower tier, following promotion in May. Since taking charge in November 2023, the former Scotland international has overseen 91 games for the Bantams, achieving a 49.5% win rate. In his first full season, he guided the club to a third-placed finish in League Two, narrowly missing the play-offs in 2024 by a single point before regrouping and securing promotion the following season.
Last campaign saw Bradford secure ten consecutive home victories, with promotion clinched dramatically on the final day thanks to a stoppage-time goal from Antoni Sarcevic against Fleetwood Town. Alexander has emphasized that the success reflects a long-term process, rather than a single season’s results. “You have to start placing the building blocks from day one; what happened at the end of the season was a culmination of a process,” he said.
Reflecting on his time at the club, Alexander told the official website, “I am really happy. I have had a brilliant time here in the last 20 months. The success on the pitch tells only half of the story of what we came here for and what we have achieved as a club.”
The new contracts underscore the board’s confidence in Alexander and Lucketti, providing financial stability and ensuring continuity just ahead of Bradford’s League One campaign. Observers note that this represents the club’s most stable period on and off the field since the Phil Parkinson era. The decision also ends speculation about the management team’s future, allowing the focus to remain solely on the season ahead.
Promotion has already secured Alexander a place in Bradford City history, but his comments suggest ambition for more.
