Stoke City Announce New Contract for Key Defender
Stoke-on-Trent, 20 November 2025 – Stoke City have secured the long-term future of centre-back Ben Gibson, with the club confirming the 32-year-old has signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at the bet365 Stadium until the summer of 2028.
The extension ends months of speculation surrounding Gibson’s future after his previous deal was due to expire at the end of the current season. The former Burnley and Norwich City man has been one of the Championship’s standout defenders since joining the Potters on a free transfer in 2022, making over 120 appearances and establishing himself as a cornerstone of Stoke’s backline.

Gibson’s consistent performances this season – including helping Stoke keep seven clean sheets in their opening 16 league games – have played a major role in the club’s push towards the Championship play-off places. The new contract includes an option for a further year.
