Uaferro & Thoelke Still Without Clubs
For years, 1. FC Saarbrücken have been pushing for promotion to the 3. Liga, relying on a core group of consistent performers. But this summer, the club opted for change – refreshing the squad with younger players while saying goodbye to some long-serving names. Among them were Boné Uaferro and Bjarne Thoelke, both of whom were not offered new deals at the end of the season. The pair remain free agents, still on the lookout for new clubs.
Meanwhile, Julian Günther-Schmidt has already found a new challenge at FC Erzgebirge Aue. The 30-year-old has featured in every league game so far but is still waiting for his first goal. Ironically, he faced his former side recently in a 4-1 defeat, extending his personal goal drought in the 3. Liga to more than two years.
Stehle & Krüger Strengthen Rivals
Winger Simon Stehle signed for SV Wehen Wiesbaden in hopes of reviving his scoring form, but injuries limited his impact. He only managed a brief five-minute cameo in a dramatic 3-4 loss to Rot-Weiss Essen.
Striker Florian Krüger, once on loan at Saarbrücken, made a permanent switch from Beerschot VA to MSV Duisburg on transfer deadline day. A reunion with FCS is already set for Matchday 9.
Elsewhere, forward Stefan Feiertag departed Austria’s Blau-Weiß Linz for Polish side Wieczysta Kraków, where he has already impressed with one goal and an assist in just 97 minutes.
Sardo & Gourichy Return Home
Midfielder Jacopo Sardo moved back to Italy, with AC Monza paying around €350,000 for his services as part of their rebuild after Serie A relegation. The 20-year-old, however, has yet to feature. Frenchman Chafik Gourichy also returned home, joining fourth-division outfit US Thionville, where he once played before moving to Saarbrücken.
Finally, reserve goalkeeper David Mutter has dropped into the amateur ranks with SG Rieschweiler, while Dominik Becker (71 third-division appearances) remains a free agent and is still searching for a new team.
