Bradford seized control early when Will Swan powered in Tyreik Wright’s corner, before Brad Halliday’s composed finish doubled the lead by half-time.

Stoke, who made 10 changes from the side that beat Southampton, struggled to threaten, and George Lapslie sealed the result by converting a rebound after Jack Bonham had denied Swan.

The Bantams — who knocked out Blackburn in the first round — remain unbeaten this season, while the Potters saw their perfect start come to an abrupt end.
