Several highly-ranked recruits have recently made official visits to Eugene, with more expected to visit the Oregon Ducks throughout the summer. Among them is five-star safety Jireh Edwards, who already visited campus earlier this spring.
Edwards is slated to return for an official visit on June 19. However, on Wednesday morning, On3’s Steve Wiltfong predicted that the standout defensive back will ultimately commit to the Alabama Crimson Tide.
According to the 247Sports composite rankings, the 6-foot-2, 205-pound Edwards is the No. 23 overall prospect in the class and the No. 2 safety. He has connections to Eugene as well—his former St. Francis Academy teammate, cornerback Ify Obidegwu, is projected to start for Oregon in 2025 and is expected to have a breakout year.
Edwards plans to announce his college decision on July 5, following official visits to Texas A\&M and Oregon.
Should he choose Alabama, Oregon has other top targets in mind. The Ducks hosted five-star safety Jett Washington this past weekend and are reportedly in a strong position to secure his commitment following a positive visit.
