Arizona State’s top recruit for the 2025 class will have to delay his debut with the Sun Devils.
Cam Dyer, a 4-star quarterback from La Cueva High School in New Mexico, sustained a right knee injury during his team’s state semifinal win over Las Cruces in late November. Despite the injury, Dyer finished the game and played the following week in La Cueva’s 6A state championship matchup against Cleveland. As a dual-threat quarterback, Dyer was limited by the injury, relying primarily on his arm in the 26-8 loss. He struggled in the game, completing just 6-of-27 passes for 85 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. He also rushed 9 times for 36 yards.
On Thursday, Dyer shared a photo on social media post-surgery, showing his knee propped up with a large brace and an ice machine attached. Details about the severity of the injury and his recovery timeline have not been disclosed.
Dyer graduated early from La Cueva and enrolled at Arizona State for the spring semester. Initially committed as a wide receiver, his impressive quarterback development caught the attention of coach Kenny Dillingham, who gave him the chance to compete at QB. Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 200 pounds, Dyer excelled as a three-sport athlete in high school, also participating in basketball and track and field. During his senior season, he accumulated 3,842 total yards and 51 touchdowns.
