The Los Angeles Chargers have had a relatively quiet offseason. One of their primary goals was to add more weapons around franchise quarterback Justin Herbert. So far, they have re-signed former star wide receiver Mike Williams, who will look to revive his career in the same place where he initially broke out.
Could the Chargers bring back another familiar face? Keenan Allen remains a free agent after spending the 2024 season with the Chicago Bears. A reunion with Los Angeles could be an option, as Nick Brinkerhoff of USA Today predicts that the Chargers will ultimately sign Allen to support Herbert.
“Allen didn’t have the best season in his first year away from the Bolts, playing for a struggling Chicago Bears team with a rookie quarterback,” Brinkerhoff wrote. “However, he remained a dependable target and could help solidify a receiving corps that currently relies on Ladd McConkey and Williams.”
In 2024, Allen appeared in 15 games for Chicago, recording 70 receptions for 744 yards and seven touchdowns. Before being traded to the Bears, he spent 11 seasons with the Chargers. A return to Los Angeles would provide Herbert with a trusted target and allow Allen to play in a familiar environment.
Spotrac projects Allen’s market value at an average of $11.1 million per season. If that price is accurate, the Chargers should seriously consider reuniting Allen with Williams and Herbert.
