Recruiting for the Class of 2026 is starting to heat up, with more campus visits and commitments expected in college football. This weekend, Virginia Tech is welcoming a group of recruits for their spring practices and scrimmage.
One of those recruits, linebacker Joshua Pittman from Suffolk, Virginia, has an official visit set for late May. Things are looking promising for the Hokies, with Brian Dohn of 247Sports recently logging a Crystal Ball prediction in their favor to secure Pittman’s commitment.

Since taking over for Justin Fuente, Brent Pry has emphasized in-state recruiting, making significant progress — particularly with the 2025 class, which already features a dozen Virginia prospects. Adding Pittman would continue that momentum and be a major win for the program.
Pittman, who received his first offer from Virginia Tech in September 2023, is a versatile linebacker at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, capable of playing both inside and outside. He would mark the Hokies’ first defensive commitment for the 2026 class.
Earlier this year, in February, the Hokies picked up a commitment from wide receiver Carnell Warren out of Bluffton, South Carolina, and more could soon follow with several visits lined up in the coming weeks and months.
This is Virginia Tech’s first Crystal Ball prediction for the 2026 cycle, though Pittman is also drawing interest from other programs, including Michigan State, Syracuse, North Carolina, and Syracuse’s new head coach, Bill Belichick. Under Fran Brown, who came over from Georgia, Syracuse has been gaining ground on the recruiting trail, especially in the southern states.
