We’ll be over in the South Side today for the annual Blue-Gold Draft! If you’re new to it or just need a refresher, here’s how it works:
- The teams for Saturday’s Blue-Gold Game will be set through a draft. First, the coaches split into Blue and Gold squads. Then, they’ll draft the seniors, who will go on to draft the rest of the players. To decide who gets the first pick among the seniors, they usually play rock-paper-scissors, and from there it follows a snake draft format.
- Each round of the draft is actually by position. Whoever has the first pick of a round also picks which position will be drafted in that round. So, for example, if Kenny Johnson is the first overall pick and he’s a receiver, that round becomes the receiver round. Both teams will then alternate picks until all receivers are drafted before moving on to the next position.

2026 WR David Aboya has locked in an official visit to Pitt this June!
Aboya, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound receiver from Milton High School in Florida, has been gaining traction on the recruiting trail since winter. Pitt assistant Kade Bell offered him last month, and things have been moving quickly.
“My relationship with Pitt is really good,” Aboya told Panther-Lair.com. “I talk to Coach Bell a lot — even more than I expected. I also started talking regularly with Coach JJ (Laster); he FaceTimed me last week. I feel like we’re building a strong connection, and it’s heading in a positive direction.”
