According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City and OGC Nice have reached a verbal agreement for 19-year-old defender Juma Bah to join the French side on loan. Nice moved ahead of Olympique Lyonnais in the race to sign the Sierra Leonean, with the potential to play in the UEFA Champions League proving a key attraction—provided the club makes it through the qualifying rounds.
Lyon had initially been frontrunners for Bah’s signature, especially after his impressive loan spell at RC Lens last season. Reports suggested OL wanted to include a free loan deal for Bah as part of Rayan Cherki’s proposed €42 million transfer to Manchester City.
However, Lyon’s focus on renewing the contract of defender Clinton Mata allowed Nice to take the lead in securing Bah’s services.
