The NFL offseason is starting to heat up.
The first major trade took place on Saturday, with the Washington Commanders acquiring Deebo Samuel from the San Francisco 49ers.
As free agency approaches, things are only going to get more intense. With less than two weeks to go, the New York Jets will be a team to watch. The organization has already announced that Aaron Rodgers won’t be returning, and there’s speculation that Davante Adams could be on the move as well.
Adams remains with the team for now, but his massive $38 million cap hit in 2025 makes his future uncertain. He signed a five-year, $140 million contract, but unless it’s restructured, he’s a candidate for release.
Rodgers has been strongly linked to the New York Giants, and according to SNY’s Connor Hughes, if he becomes available, Adams would “likely” join him.
“Rodgers has made it clear he wants to be on a team that values him,” Hughes said. “He also loves New York and would prefer not to relocate. He’s a big fan of Malik Nabers. If this scenario plays out, Adams would likely be part of the deal—just as Cooper Kupp was supposed to accompany Matthew Stafford to New York. Adams would be a great complement to Nabers.”
With all the speculation swirling, real moves should start unfolding in the coming days.
